Darksiders Review

Darksiders is a game that shares similarities to several well known franchises but proves that when placed in the right hands, old tricks can be made new again. Darksiders is an action adventure game borrowing Zelda like progression fused with God of War like combat. Further influences include the lock on shooting mechanics of Panzer Dragoon and a Portal Gun similar to the one used in Portal. That’s not to say that this is a another generic “clone” of something we have already played. Darksiders [Read More]

THQ announced that Vigil Games apocalyptic action-adventure title will be coming to the PC this June. THQ vice president of global brand management, Travis Plane, said in a statement. “We hope PC gamers experience the same thrill and get the same level of satisfaction assuming the mantle of WAR as the console audience did.” Darksiders was released for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 in January this year. Having finished the Xbox 360 version of the game this week, I think it’s safe to say that PC gamers [Read More]

Lost in Warcraft: The One Hundred Day Adventure

For five years I have sat on the side lines reading articles and listening to people talk about World of Warcraft and I finally decided I had heard enough. It was time to swallow the red pill and take the plunge down the rabbit hole. I sat at my PC and proceeded to install the free ten day trial and I didn’t look back. Plunge might not be the best word to describe my one hundred day affair with World of Warcraft, crashed is probably a more suitable term.
Over the [Read More]

Little Big Planet PSP at First Glance

I had to do a some traveling recently which gave me an opportunity to dust off my PSP and partake in a little road trip gaming. When I was looking over the list of handheld games I wanted to pickup Little Big Planet for the PSP caught my eye. I don’t own a PS3 so I thought that this would be a good opportunity to familiarize myself with the Little Big Planet franchise and see what I’ve been missing. I didn’t have as much down time during my travels [Read More]

Fallout 3: Broken Steel Review

If you haven’t purchased any of the additional episodes that have been released for Fallout 3, the Broken Steel expansion is the best place to start. There have been a lot of positive changes and updates to the core Fallout 3 game included in this release. Most notable is a change to the ending of the game. Fallout 3 did so many things right but the ending was one of the more anti-climatic endings of a game this generation. Ending the game actually means, ending the game. If players complete [Read More]

Fallout 3 Director: Five Is Enough

Fallout 3’s downloadable content has been very successful. Each package has kept the spotlight pointed in Bethesdas direction well after the launch of the game in 2008.  Keeping gamers focus on a single title for all these months is a big accomplishment, so why are they stopping at five? Director Todd Howard told Kotaku, “I think we’ve put enough content out there for this game.  We knew we wanted to do three initially and we’ll see where that goes. I kind of had in my mind that the upper limit [Read More]

The integration of social networking tools into game consoles combined with the growing broadband adoption rate means that playing with friends is as easy as turning on your console. Battlefield 1943 Review: Silent Conquest in the Pacific

Crouching under a grove of palm trees, hidden by tall grass, I stare down the barrel of my sniper rifle patiently waiting on the American troops to come charging over the hill. My team has silently coordinated a beautiful plan of attack that has pushed our enemy into a single corner of the map. Our planes are flying above their base continually pelting their position with payload after payload of bombs weakening their attack plans. My teammates have moved our tanks into a position that should help us prevent any [Read More]

Fallout 3 Review Part 3: A Journey of Self Discovery and Survival

Thrust into the wasteland as the “Lone Wander from Vault 101” and ending up “The Last, Best Hope for Humanity” was a long, and at times, trying journey. If you missed the first two parts of my review you can check them out here and here. Following your fathers trail requires a lot of back and forth through the wastelands and they are anything but safe. Constantly having to defend yourself against on coming attacks from Raiders, Super Mutants, Feral Ghouls, Mole Rats, Vicious Dogs, Deathclaws, Mercs, and more, isn’t [Read More]
