Fallout 3: Super Mutant Behemoths Locations

Having trouble getting The Bigger They Are… achievement in Fallout 3? This one is earned by killing the all Super Mutant Behemoths in the game. There are five of these monsters and they can be found at the locations listed below. Good luck!

1. GNR Building : The Behemoth will break through a wall outside Galaxy News Radio Building. (Quest Location)
2. Evergreen Mills : Held captive behind an electric force field beside the train tracks. This is the easiest one to take down, unless you destroy the generator that powers it’s cage.
3. The Capitol Building : Located in the West Entrance of the building, Talon Company Mercs will be fighting with it when you get there. Be ready, once you are seen by the Mercs they will stop attacking the Mutant and come after you.
4. Takoma Industrial Park : This building is at the edge of the map east of the GNR Building (Galaxy News Radio). The Behemoth is in front of the factory surrounded by wrecked cars.
5. Jury Station : Leave Jury Station heading west until you reach a bunch of train cars. You will not see this one when you get there. To trigger the Behemoths appearance, you have to pick up the Teddy Bear that’s in a shopping cart cage in between the train cars. Once you pick it up a bell will sound and the Behemoth will coming running over the hill from the east. (Thanks goes to Paul Micheal’s faq on IGN.COM for this one.)

Fighting the Super Mutant Behemoths wasn’t hard, but skill level and weapon inventory makes all the difference. The first two are the easiest to kill. Outside the GNR building you are given a Fat Boy and enough Mini Nukes to take the first one down pretty quickly. As long as you don’t blow up the generator at Evergreen Mills you can kill this Behemoth with a 10mm Pistol and a couple Frag Grenades. (that was my approach.) Before going after the last three I suggest having either a Missile Launcher, Fat Boy, or an Alien Pistol with a couple rounds of ammo to take them out quickly. If you use a Stealth Boy before entering the grounds surrounding the Takoma Industrial Park you can sneak up on the Super Mutant Behemoth undetected. Before you start running and gunning, throw a couple frag grenades using V.A.T.S. and the cars surrounding it will explode providing some extra damage before it gets a chance to run at you.
